We all have a flame within us.
In Célia's case, it's more of a raging fire.
The scene takes place in the idyllic neighborhood of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris: a promising legal career, a well-ordered life. Miscasting?
Célia is burning. She isn't made for this script.
The set is conventional, the dialogues clichéd, and the ending too predictable. This role is not hers. She then decides to apply her favorite motto: "Become what you are." She leaves France and settles in Quebec, ready to blaze the stage. It's the performance that inhabits her.
Successively as Natalia Stepanovna in "A Marriage Proposal" (Anton Chekhov), Monique in "Quai Ouest" (Bernard-Marie Koltès), and Mrs. Popova in "The Bear" (Anton Chekhov), the intensity of her acting is acclaimed by the audience and her energy praised by director René Bazinet.
Driven by ensemble work, in 2017 she founded the Minuit moins une Théâtre company. The first show she created with her team is called "Ton corps t'appartient-il ?", winner of the 2017-2018 Parcours Scène competition, presented at the Festival des Arts de Montréal-Nord and Vue sur la Relève. In 2018, a second show was created, this time for teenagers, written by Arianne Maynard-Turcotte and directed by Alix Dufresne: "Ton corps t'appartient-il 2.0".
In 2018, Célia participated in the Open Workshops on Diversity organized by Lorraine Pintal at the TNM.
In 2019, she passed the Auditions générales du Quat'Sous and joined the Jeune Troupe du Quat'Sous created by Olivier Keimed. In 2020, the Jeune Troupe presented "Prologue", directed by Mani Soleymanlou, as part of the Offta 2020. In 2021, the team created "A Few Tiny Lives" directed by Jérémie Niel and presented at the Théâtre de Quat'Sous.
She also portrayed a Nursing Sister as part of a Tribute to the Sisters of St. Joseph for their over 100 years of nursing care (a show directed by Suzie LeBlanc).
In 2023, she co-founded the Collectif Y'a le feu au lac with three other artists, and she has embarked on playwriting. Her first play will be presented at the Montreal Fringe Festival in June 2025.
